U.S. Youth Transport Agency provides professional, non-emergency youth transport services for referring agencies, treatment facilities, and families nationwide. Below are answers to common questions organized by audience.

For Agencies, Facilities & Caseworkers

Questions about referrals, documentation, coordination, and compliance.

How do we initiate a transport referral?

Submit a transport request through our online form or call 1-833-632-1248. Our coordination team will confirm required documentation and work with you to establish a transport schedule aligned with your facility's intake process.

What documentation is required before a transport can be scheduled?

A signed Permission to Transport form from an authorized legal guardian or placing agency is required before any transport is scheduled. Our coordination team will provide a documentation checklist and guide your team through each requirement prior to the transport date.

How quickly can a transport be arranged?

In many cases, transport can be arranged within 12 hours of receiving authorization and required documentation. Timelines vary based on travel logistics and receiving facility requirements. Our coordination team is available 24/7, 365 days a year to begin the process.

What updates will our agency receive during transport?

Authorized contacts receive status updates at key milestones, including pickup confirmation, transit status, and arrival confirmation. Our coordination team remains available throughout the transport to support your team's coordination needs.

What training and background screening do your agents have?

All agents complete CPI training (Crisis Prevention and Intervention), CPR, and First Aid. Background screening is conducted consistent with client and contract requirements. Lead agents have completed a minimum of 150 transports. Full agent standards are available on our compliance and safety page.

What happens at the receiving facility upon arrival?

Agents complete a verified facility handoff, transferring the youth along with required documentation, medications, and personal belongings to intake personnel. Transport details are reported to intake staff and arrival is confirmed with the referring party.

For Parents & Guardians

Questions about the transport process, your child's experience, and how to get started.

When can I speak with someone?

Our coordination team is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Call 1-833-632-1248 and a team member will speak with you directly. You will not reach an answering machine.

Who will be transporting my child?

Every transport is conducted by a dedicated two-agent team who remains with your child from pickup through facility handoff. Our agents are trained professionals who work together regularly as compatible teams. You can learn more about our agents here.

How do your agents handle a youth who is reluctant?

Our agents are trained in de-escalation and crisis intervention and approach every situation with calm, professional communication. We do not use physical restraints or sedatives. Agents focus on building trust and explaining the process clearly to the youth from the outset of the transport.

What should my child bring?

Pack one carry-on bag with essential items for the first days at the program. The receiving facility will provide a list of approved items. Prescription medications must be provided in original containers to the transport agents at pickup. Electronic devices, cash, and credit cards should not be included. Meals and snacks are provided during transport.

Will I receive updates during transport?

Yes. Our coordination team provides status updates at key points throughout the transport, including pickup confirmation and arrival. We recommend that parents not contact the transport agents directly while the transport is in progress to allow agents to maintain focus on your child.

What do I need to do to get started?

Complete our transport information form or call 1-833-632-1248. Our coordination team will walk you through the required documentation, including the Permission to Transport form, and coordinate the transport schedule with you.
